No Tan Rápido

NoTanRapidoSliderNOT SO FAST: Parenting Your Teen Through The Dangers of Driving will be published in Spanish on September 1, 2015 as NO TAN RÁPIDO by the Chicago Review Press, and distributed by the Spanish-language arm of Independent Publishers Group.

NOT SO FAST, first published in 2013, is a unique resource for parents of teen drivers because it focuses not on driving, but on what parents can do day-by-day before their teens get behind the wheel to prevent the predictable, most dangerous teen driving situations from happening in the first place. Publisher’s Weekly called NOT SO FAST, “A concise, practical and potentially life-saving book that should be required reading for every parent before their teen gets behind the wheel.” The book has been featured on national and regional television, radio, and print media, including the “Home & Family Show” on the Hallmark Channel and “Raising America” on HLN. Proceeds from NOT SO FAST are donated to the Reid Hollister Memorial Fund, which supports infant and toddler education and safe driving programs.

The Spanish publication has been prompted by the fact that, in addition to the existing Spanish-speaking population, as of January 2015, the District of Columbia and ten states (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Vermont, Utah, Washington, New Mexico, Maryland, and Nevada), are issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented residents, many of whom are Spanish speaking.

ASPIRA, the national Latino youth organization, and the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS), www.noys.org, are lending their support to the Spanish publication of NOT SO FAST. An endorsement from ASPIRA National President Ronald Blackburn is attached. NOYS Chief Executive Officer Anita Boles calls the effort, “A great step toward educating Latino parents about safe teen driving.”

The Introduction, in Spanish, is also attached. Additional information will be available in the coming months on the NOT SO FAST website, www.nsfteendriving.com, and on Tim Hollister’ blog for parents of teen drivers, “From Reid’s Dad,” www.fromreidsdad.org.

Praise
